Toms River (N.J.) Toms River North offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews has locked in his commitment date.
“I will commit on June 11 at noon at North,” Matthews told On3.
The No. 300 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking was scheduled to visit Miami officially this weekend, but that trip is no longer happening.
“I am done with visits,” Matthews added.
Matthews is fresh off an official visit to Rutgers last weekend and the local program is working hard to land the four-star. He named Georgia and Tennessee as the other finalists in this race to go with the Hurricanes, but the Scarlet Knights aren’t giving up.
Ole Miss was working to get in this late, but Matthews is ready to end his recruitment.
When asked about his decision a little over a week ago, the 6-foot-5, 275-pounder said, “Whenever I find the right place, I will commit. I just want to take these visits and make sure I find the right fit. The relationships are important and it is just how I feel at these schools. I don’t want to go in the Transfer Portal, so I have to make sure I find the best fit. That is when I will commit.”
Matthews talks Georgia, Miami, Rutgers and Tennessee
Georgia: “Coach Stacey Searels is a great offensive line coach. Georgia has great players and a great culture.”
Miami: “My relationship with coach Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal is strong and I love how they work together with the offensive linemen. That is what I like most about Miami.”
Rutgers: “They have been recruiting me since my 8th grade year and my relationships are unlike the ones I have with any other coaches. The staff has always shown me love.”
Tennessee: “I have seen and heard everything at Tennessee. The fan base, my connection with coach Glenn Elarbee and how they have recruited makes Tennessee stand out.”
