Crysencio Summerville finally breaks silence after Leeds play-off final defeat and drops potential future hint

Crysencio Summerville has broken his silence after Leeds United’s play-off final defeat almost two weeks ago.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 by Southampton at Wembley to consign them to a second successive season of Championship football.

With the window not yet open for another seven days, it still remains uncertain as to whether Summerville will be a Leeds player come August, with several Premier League sides interested.

Chairman Paraag Marathe has acknowledged some key players will have to depart this summer after Leeds’ failure to win promotion, and Summerville is certainly one who falls under that category.

After a stellar individual season, he has been dubbed the most likely of Leeds’ big-name players to depart, with a reported asking price of £30 million set by the 49ers.

Summerville drops potential hint on Leeds future

After watching so many of his teammates depart last summer, it would have been easy for Summerville to try and force through a move, particularly when big money offers were rejected.

However, he instead opted to keep his head down and work hard, which ultimately resulted in him winning the Championship POTS. His stock is now extremely high.

Writing on Instagram earlier this afternoon, Summerville has become the latest member of Daniel Farke‘s squad to post a message to supporters after such disappointment.

Dan James and Ethan Ampadu were the most recent at the beginning of this week, with both dropping a hint on where their futures might lie at the end of the season.

And while at this stage it may be hard to read too much into it, Summerville‘s post has a very similar feel to it due to the mention of coming back next season.

He said: “A tough season filled with beautiful moments. Honoured and grateful to be EFL Championship player of the year. Thank you, an award I wouldn’t have received without my teammates.

“They helped me double my assists from last season and become top goal scorer. Thank you for all the love and support. At the end, it was a disappointing end to the season and it still hurts but we will comeback stronger.”

What is Summerville’s stance on a Leeds exit

It has been well documented just how much interest there is in Summerville, but the mere mention of returning stronger next season may just be a glimmer of hope he might stay.

Summerville will reportedly not look to force through an exit from Elland Road, but ultimately, it may be out of his hands how it unfolds.

Leeds do need to sell some players this summer and he is among those who could attract the most money towards PSR.

It is certainly going to be an interesting few weeks ahead, but in all honesty, it is hard to see him turning down Premier League interest for another year.
