What Arne Slot is currently doing on Merseyside ahead of Liverpool unveiling

Liverpool fans are waiting patiently to see Arne Slot unveiled as their new head coach.

It has now been almost three weeks since Jurgen Klopp left the Reds for good. The dust is starting to settle.

But while we’ve seen some updates from Klopp on what he’s up to, there has been virtually no sign at all of Slot.

Liverpool did put out a muted statement to signal the 45-year-old’s arrival. However, we’re yet to see Slot in person at the AXA Training Centre.

This has led to speculation over what the Dutchman and his potential new coaching staff have been up to. Thankfully, we’ve now got a clearer picture.

Arne Slot settling in on Merseyside

There’s really no need to be alarmed by the fact that Slot hasn’t been spotted yet. The Liverpool squad are all away anyway and pre-season is still a little way in the distance.

Nevertheless, there has been some bemusement over why it would take Liverpool so long to unveil such an important new arrival.

In reality, it doesn’t really matter. Slot is officially the Reds’ head coach and will be acting accordingly.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the new boss is set to have conversations with FSG about every single Liverpool player starting from next week.

But before he does that, journalist Paul Gorst has told The Redmen TV that Slot is currently ‘settling in’ on Merseyside with his family.

“The manager who’s just left cited a draining of energy levels and it might be a little bit of an eye opener for Slot – the size of the club and the intense demands, the pressure and the interest. So, there’s no real need thrusting that upon him too early,” Gorst explains.

“He’s getting settled on Merseyside at the moment with his family and all that type of stuff, just enjoying some time off after a busy season for himself in the Eredivisie,” he adds.

“I think there’s a relaxed attitude towards this at the moment. He will be unveiled, he will get all the bells and whistles in time and it will be done properly. That will be done, certainly not this week, it will be a few weeks yet by all accounts.”

Feyenoord coach claims he won’t join Arne Slot at Liverpool

It isn’t just Slot who we’re looking forward to hearing from as he takes up a post at Liverpool.

The former Feyenoord boss will also be bringing a handful of new staff members along with him.

None of these have yet been officially confirmed by Liverpool, but it has been reported that three members of the Feyenoord backroom team will move with Slot.

According to goalkeeping coach Jyri Nieminen, this could have been four. Speaking on Thursday, Nieminen claimed that he was close to joining Liverpool but will ultimately stay with Feyenoord.

One of Slot’s jobs this summer will be to put the final touches to the Reds new coaching group, including adding a head of goalkeeping.

Before all of that though, it’s good to hear that he’s getting himself settled. Let’s hope to see him spotted out and about soon.
