Pittsburgh Steelers release 2024 training camp schedule

Yes, the dog days of summer without football really will come to an end. We promise. The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday the training camp dates.

And once training camp starts, the preseason games will follow. Then there will be real football in September. But with the announcement of training camp, we know it’s a matter of weeks until the NFL gets here, not never-ending months.

The Steelers will report to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. on July 24th. Training camp begins the next day. Then on the 30th, players will practice in pads for the first time. The annual ‘Friday Night Lights’ practice follows on Aug. 2 at Latrobe Memorial Stadium.

Steelers fans should feel comfortable in Latrobe. It’s been Pittsburgh’s summer home for 57 years.

And fans will be able to see this new Steelers offense on the field as the battle heats up between new quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Meanwhile, newest linebacker Patrick Queen will find his spot in the middle of the Steelers defense. Then there’s that talented class of rookies.

There are a number of training camp practices free and open to the public. However, you need a mobile ticket to attend. You may get those from Ticketmaster. They’re available to season ticket holders at 10 a.m. Eastern, June 25. Wait list members can start requesting practice tickets an hour later. Then at noon, anyone can grab them.

The Steelers play their first preseason game against the Texans on Aug. 9. They’ll face the Bills at home on Aug. 17. The final preseason game is at Detroit on Aug. 24.

The Steelers finished the final OTAs this week. Mandatory minicamp kicks off next Tuesday, then the team takes a break until training camp. Football is so close!
