Roy Keane dropped savage four-word response after former Man Utd teammate's surprise admission, he didn't hold back

Manchester United legend Roy Keane did not miss the mark after his brutal response to Wayne Rooney admitting that he has only ever read one book.

Roy Keane was well known for his no-nonsense approach on the pitch and off it during his legendary Manchester United career.

Following his spell in coaching and management, the 52-year-old Manchester United legend has become a leading face in punditry for Sky Sports.

Keane has maintained his demeanour from his playing career while on punditry, but the former United star has also shown another side to him off camera.

The Irishman is widely regarded as one of the best captains in Premier League history, along with one of the best midfielders in the history of the sport.

Keane excelled as United captain after inheriting the armband in 1997 and led the Red Devils to their iconic treble win in the 1998-99 season.

During his time under iconic former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Keane lifted seven Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and four FA Cups.

However, Keane’s spell at Old Trafford came to an abrupt end in 2005 after his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson fractured and he was axed from the club.

Keane on Rooney’s book admission

Wayne Rooney previously revealed that he has become a mainstay on The Overlap’s Stick to Football show after his previous appearances on the podcast.

The 38-year-old Manchester United legend recently made his return to football management after he became the head coach for Plymouth Argyle.

Rooney, who took up punditry after he was sacked by Birmingham City in January, returned for the latest episode of the Stick to Football show.

During the Stick to Football episode, the former United and England striker revealed that he had only ever read one book in his life.

“The only book I’ve ever read, seriously, is Carra’s,” Rooney admitted.

Responding to Rooney, Gary Neville said: “I thought you were going to say my autobiography. You’ve read Carra’s book? Why?”

Roy Keane didn’t pass up the opportunity to take a swipe at Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who was absent from the Stick to Football episode.

“To help him sleep,” he said in response to Rooney’s admission.

Keane left the likes of Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Rooney in stitches with his reply before the United legend talked about his own reading habits.

“Books, it depends [on] what mood I’m in to read books,” he said.

“But if I like a book, I don’t put it down.”

Rooney left Keane baffled with another admission

Keane was lost for words after Rooney made the bizarre admission that he would take a nap while a hairdryer would blow in his face.

Rooney revealed his hairdryer sleeping habit even led to him missing his first England team meeting.

“I’ve done that a few times where I’ve fallen asleep,” he said.

“I like to have a sleep in the afternoon and when I sleep I have the hairdryer blowing in my face.

“Which sometimes blanks the alarm and I sleep through. I still sleep like that now.”
