For 16 college baseball teams, it all comes down to this weekend. After a joyous weekend celebrating a regional victory, it is now time to flush that and move on to the super regional weekend. Eight teams will come out of this weekend as super regional champions and go to Omaha for the College World Series, while another eight see their season come to an end.
Some teams, such as Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas A&M, are here as expected. They posted strong seasons from start to finish and met expectations. Others, such as Evansville, Kansas State or UConn, have shocked people by upsetting others in their regional round and now look to continue that momentum.

With super regional weekend underway, here is an updated look at how the brackets are playing out and who could be punching their ticket to Omaha.
Knoxville Super Regional
(1) Tennessee vs. Evansville
Game 1: Tennessee 11, Evansville 6
Game 2: Evansville 10, Tennessee 8
Game 3: Tennessee 12, Evansville 1
No. 1 Tennessee advances to College World Series
Tennessee found itself facing an early deficit in the Knoxville Super Regional on Friday, trailing the Purple Aces 2-1 entering the bottom of the third. But the Volunteers’ bats woke up, and the lead got to 5-2 before Evansville tied things back up in the fifth. Once again, Tennessee came through and eventually came away with the 11-6 victory to take a 1-0 lead in the Super Regional.
Game 2 started out with a bang as the Volunteers took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning courtesy of three solo home runs. Blake Burke, Dylan Dreiling and Hunter Ensley all went yard on to stun Evansville early. Burke added to the lead with a sac fly in the second inning, making it 4-0. However, Evansville battled back with three runs in the 4th courtesy of a home run from CJ McGinnis. While Tennessee held a 5-3 lead at one point, Evansville poured it on in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 10-5. Despite a late rally in the ninth, Evansville held on for the win.
In the end, though, Tennessee, the top overall seed in the field, got it done with a 12-1 victory in Game 3. They did it with a dominant performance, especially on offense with a dozen runs. Those came from 12 hits with them hitting seven home runs, which was a season-high, to add to their program record in that statistic this year. Now, with the win, the Volunteers will make their second straight appearance in Omaha as they’ve reached the College World Series in three of the last four years.
Lexington Super Regional
(2) Kentucky vs. (15) Oregon State
Game 1: Kentucky 10, Oregon State 0
Game 2: Kentucky 3, Oregon State 2
No. 2 Kentucky advances to College World Series
Like Tennessee, there was very little drama for Kentucky in the Lexington Regional. The Wildcats swept the field with three straight wins, though the first one was a back-and-forth 10-8 affair. Oregon State also advanced with three straight wins in Corvallis, though the Beavers had to sit overnight due to a delay, clinching on Monday afternoon instead.
Kentucky could have not asked for a better start, blanking Oregon State in the first game of the Lexington Super Regional. Getting 10 runs on the board certainly helps too, expecting to win any game when scoring double digits. The Wildcats are now one win away from the program’s first-ever College World Series appearance ever.
Then, on Sunday, Kentucky made school history. The Wildcats got off to a 2-0 lead before the Beavers tied it at two apiece. Nolan McCarthy then scored off a wild pitch to create the final margin of 3-2. That victory now sends Kentucky to their first-ever College World Series in the history of their program.
College Station Super Regional
(3) Texas A&M vs. Oregon
Game 1: Texas A&M 10, Oregon 6
Game 2: Texas A&M 15, Oregon 9
No. 3 Texas A&M advances to College World Series
Texas A&M cruised through the College Station Regional, looking every bit the part of the nation’s No. 3 seed. There was a close game against Texas, but that was sandwiched by a couple blowouts to advance out to the supers easily. Meanwhile, Oregon managed to advance to the Super Regionals for the second straight year, winning a trio of very close games to sweep the Santa Barbara Regional.
Head coach Jim Schlossnagle had to be happy with how Texas A&M responded in Game 1, coming from behind to win 10-6. But there was a long-term injury that will plague the Aggies if they continue on in the NCAA Tournament. Braden Montgomery was taken out of the game in a cast after a collision at the plate. A good win but the bigger storyline for now is Montgomery.
The Aggies then did more of the same in Game 2 against the Ducks. It did take a comeback at Blue Bell Park as they started down 7-2 through three innings. However, nine runs at the top of the seventh after five walks and a home run opened it up for Texas A&M to take a 13-8 lead before closing it out at 15-9 to advance to Omaha.
Chapel Hill Super Regional
(4) North Carolina vs. West Virginia
Game 1: North Carolina 8, West Virginia 6
Game 2: North Carolina 2, West Virginia 1
No. 4 North Carolina advances to College World Series
North Carolina had to battle to the bitter end to advance to a Super Regional, and the Tar Heels found themselves in another grind-it-out game Friday night. West Virginia erased a 4-1 deficit and took a 6-5 lead into the ninth inning. That’s when Luke Stevenson led things off with a game-tying home run, and Vance Honeycutt put the exclamation point on the comeback with a walk-off home run to seal the 8-6 victory.
Flash forward a day and North Carolina is now going to the College World Series. A one-run win against West Virginia was enough, taking the program to Omaha for the first time since 2018. Not only a they the third team to make the field but they are once again another member of the ACC, joining Florida State and Virginia.
Clemson Super Regional
(6) Clemson vs. Florida
Game 1: Florida 10, Clemson 7
Game 2: Florida 11, Clemson 10
Florida advances to College World Series
Clemson advanced to the supers by winning three straight games, including a pair of one-run games to start things off. After winning those, Clemson poured it on in the regional final against Coastal Carolina, winning 12-5. Florida advanced out of the loser’s bracket in the Stillwater Regional. The Gators and star Jac Caglianone knocked off Nebraska twice to sandwich an early loss to Oklahoma State. But Florida roared back to win two straight against Oklahoma State to advance to the supers.
Florida was able to rally from behind and take down Clemson in Game 1, being a huge win for the Gators. A massive seven-spot in the fifth inning is what propelled Florida and Clemson was not able to respond. Home runs were flying out of the ballpark, including one from Jac Caglianoe.
Game 2 was arguably one of the best matchups of the entire season in college baseball while also being an incredibly testy one. Clemson came back from down three runs at the top of the ninth after a tying home run from Cam Cannarella. However, his huge heroics weren’t enough in the end in extras. The umpires ejected Erik Bakich and Jack Leggett at the top of the 13th before Michael Robertson then walked it off for the Gators to send them to Omaha.
Athens Super Regional
(7) Georgia vs. (10) NC State
Game 1: NC State 18, Georgia 1
Game 2: Georgia 11, NC State 2
Game 3: NC State 8, Georgia 5
No. 10 NC State advances to College World Series
The Wolfpack wasted no time in Game 1, scoring 11 runs in the second inning to take a 11-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Georgia seemingly had no answer as NC State scored again in the third and fifth to go up 13-0. The blood bath didn’t stop despite the Bulldogs getting one run in the fifth. The Wolfpack put up five more to put the bow on an 18-1 Game 1 win.
Sunday was almost the complete inverse. Georgia jumped on top 5-0 early with a pair of home runs, then continued to plate runs to make sure it would be able to comfortable force a Game 3. Georgia ultimately won 11-2, forcing that deciding game.
Game 3 provided some offensive excitement, with most going in favor of NC State. Georgia had multiple chances with runners on base but was not able to come through. Head coach Elliott Avent is taking his team to Omaha for the program’s second CWS appearance in four years.
Tallahassee Super Regional
(8) Florida State vs. UConn
Game 1: Florida State 24, UConn 4
Game 2: Flordia State 10, UConn 8 (12 innings)
No. 8 Florida State advances to College World Series
The start of the Tallahassee Super Regional came with some fireworks, courtesy of the host team. The Seminoles belted a couple home runs early to gain an early foothold in the game and then cruised to a mammoth 24-4 victory to move one win away from Omaha. It might be tough for the Huskies to overcome the shock of what happened in the opener, though they did manage to rally for a couple runs in the late innings.
Game 2 started off the opposite way as UConn struck first, well, in the first inning. The Huskies took a 2-0 lead before Florida State tied it up in the third. Then, the Seminoles raced out to a 5-2 lead in the fifth before UConn responded with two more runs. Then, a solo shot in the sixth put FSU up 6-4. Three consecutive runs for UConn put the Huskies back up 7-6 in the sixth inning. But, the ‘Noles wouldn’t go away, taking an 8-7 lead after runs in the eighth and ninth innings. The game would be tied 8-8 going into extra innings. In the top of the 12th, FSU was back on top with a two-run home run from James Tibbs. The Seminoles held on for a trip to the College World Series.
Charlottesville Super Regional
(12) Virginia vs. Kansas State
Game 1: Virginia 7, Kansas State 4
Game 2: Virginia 10, Kansas State 4
No. 12 Virginia advances to College World Series
In the Charlottesville Super Regional opener, Virginia and Kansas State played a close one. It was a 4-3 UVA lead into the seventh inning, but K-State tied things up on a David Bishop solo home run. The Cavaliers didn’t waste time responding, though, as Henry Godbout hit a towering home run to make it a 7-4 Virginia lead, which held as the final.
One day later, Virginia was able to punch its ticket to the College World Series thanks to a five-run final inning. A great accomplishment for the program, getting back to Omaha for the second consecutive season. They are now the second team to advance out of the Super Regionals, also coming from the ACC.
