Representatives from 10 Japanese companies including startups held discussions with potential Ukrainian business partners on ways to help rebuild the country ravaged by the Russian invasion, during a two-day networking event in Kyiv through Friday.
The Japan External Trade Organization coordinated the event, which was attended by officials from some 50 corporations and groups from Ukraine, following a similar event in Tokyo in February led by the Japanese government.
Sagri Co., a startup based in Hyogo Prefecture, promoted its technology for the remote analysis of farm soil using data from satellites, saying it hopes to help revitalize agriculture in the country where landmines and unexploded bombs from the conflict pose a significant risk.
Mebiol Inc., a venture company in Kanagawa Prefecture, pitched its transparent films used to cultivate plants in locations believed to be unsuitable for traditional agriculture to a tomato growing and processing company whose lands were partially seized by Russia.
Gennadiy Chizhikov, president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, thanked the Japanese businesses and government Friday for their efforts to help rebuild the country's economy.
