Bixby (Okla.) four-star offensive tackle Broderick Shull entered his official visits with a business-trip mindset, hoping to find what he needed as he worked toward his college decision.
He headed back to The Plains last weekend for his official with Auburn. Quickly, the Tigers delivered what he was looking for. On Friday, Shull wasted no more time and announced his commitment to Hugh Freeze and AU, choosing the SEC program over Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Nebraska.
“I had the feeling. I got the feeling I was looking for in a college and immediately felt it at Auburn,” Shull told On3. “I did pray about it for a bit. I feel that feeling is what God spoke to me about and that’s being an Auburn football player.”
The Tigers blew Shull away when he made his debut trip to campus in March. Positive feelings continued to roll in as he returned last weekend. What helped seal the deal for the 6-foot-5.5, 275-pounder was the connection he felt away from the gridiron.
“I definitely would say their style outside of the football field,” he said of what stood out. “They’re obviously a good football program with factories and coaches. Seeing how the community and the players, seeing how they acted outside of football, I loved it.”
Shull ready to bring Auburn back to top of the mountain
With Shull now in the fold, Auburn’s 2025 class features 13 commits and ranks inside the top 10 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The trench monster ranks No. 19 overall and No. 5 at the tackle position, according to the 2025 On300 Rankings.
“They definitely have a vision they have a clear vision on what they’re doing,” Shull said of Freeze and Co. “With what they’re doing with our recruiting class, it’s one of the tops in the nation. We’re getting the program back like the 2010s and getting this program back to a national championship.”
Shull will now play recruiter for the Tigers and says he’s ready to help AU recruit fellow five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola. He’s ready to get to work and make an impact on The Plains in the near future.
“It’s an awesome place and I really love it.”
