2025 DL Abu Tarawallie commits to Minnesota

Minneapolis Providence Academy three-star defensive lineman Abu Tarawallie has committed to Minnesota, he announced on Friday evening.

He chose the in-state Golden Gophers over Kansas State, Michigan State and Wisconsin.

Tarawallie is the No. 844 overall prospect and No. 75 DL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Minnesota.

While his official visit isn’t until next weekend, the 6-foot-2.5, 265-pounder wasted no time announcing his pledge. Tarawallie announced his top four at the end of May and now joins a top-40 recruiting class for P.J. Fleck and Co.

The addition of Tarawallie gives the Gophers 12 commitments in the 2025 class — which now ranks No. 40 in the nation and No. 13 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Tarawallie is the fifth in-state prospect to pledge to Minnesota this cycle, joining the likes of Minneapolis Robbinsdale Cooper four-star linebacker Emmanuel Karmo and Andover Senior three-star wide receiver Cameron Begalle.

Karmo is the top-ranked commit in the class, as he ranks No. 339 overall and is also the No. 1 player in Minnesota. Karmo is one of two blue-chippers in the class, alongside Laguna Beach (Calif.) four-star quarterback Jackson Kollock, the No. 28 signal-caller in the nation.

Other top commits in the class include Middleton (Wisc.) three-star DL Torin Pettaway, Mentor (Ohio) Lake Catholic three-star tight end Cross Nimmo, Covington (Ga.) Newton three-star cornerback Zachry Harden and Avon (Ind.) three-star EDGE Enoch Atewogbola.
