"People of India didn't trust Rahul Gandhi in last 3 Lok Sabha elections": Giriraj Singh

New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): BJP MP from Begusarai, Giriraj Singh, strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stating that the people of India have consistently failed to trust him in the past three Lok Sabha elections.

"The INDI alliance works on Thethrology. The person (Rahul Gandhi) who could not cross 99 even in three elections is celebrating, Congress has crossed the limits of shamelessness. Where did this 'tukde-tukde' alliance get votes? Their alliance got fewer votes than the BJP alone. The people of the country did not trust Rahul Gandhi in three elections (2014, 2019 and 2024)."

Singh further asserted the enduring popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, "Narendra Modi was and will remain the Prime Minister."

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Kanpur, Ramesh Awasthi, praised the strength of the BJP-led NDA coalition, stating that it is the strongest alliance ever formed.

"Narendra Modi is going to become the Prime Minister for the third time. In the meeting, all the leaders expressed their support and said that whatever decisions the PM makes, we are with him. This coalition will run the government for five years. The job of the opposition is to raise questions. I believe that such a strong alliance (NDA) has never been formed," Awasthi said.

After the vote count on June 4, the Varanasi District Magistrate presented the certificate to BJP leaders.

Notably, PM Modi has defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai with a margin of 1,52,513 votes, according to the Election Commission of India. Prime Minister Modi received 6,12,970 votes while Ajay Rai received 4,60,457 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Ather Jamal Lari was in the third position with 33,766 votes.

"PM Modi respectfully accepted the certificate, calling it a mandate from the people," the release said.

On Friday, the President appointed Narendra Modi to the office of Prime Minister of India.

The swearing-in-ceremony of the Prime Minister is scheduled to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9.

Meanwhile, Special security measures have also been arranged for foreign dignitaries attending the swearing-in ceremony, including enhanced protocols at three designated hotels where the dignitaries will be staying.

In addition to on-ground security, Delhi Police issued a public advisory on Friday announcing a No-Fly Zone over the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.

The advisory prohibits the operation of sub-conventional aerial platforms, which aims to prevent any potential threats from criminal, anti-social elements, or terrorists during the swearing-in ceremony.

According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions. (ANI)
