No heat to recent Celtic Kyogo rumours as Bhoys set the bar high

Kyogo Furuhashi has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks after another season of success at Celtic.

Reports from Japan have indicated that Urawa Red Diamonds are keen on flashing their substantial cash to bring the forward back to his homeland.

Chris Sutton addressed the rumours last week, urging Celtic not to be tempted into selling their big-game striker, who scored another 19 goals across 2023/24.

He said: “Celtic should be looking to keep their big players for the Champions League – not selling them. There has been talk about bids coming on from Japan but the figures mentioned for Kyogo wouldn’t even scratch the surface.”

Thankfully, it seems there is little reason for imminent worry after the latest report on the subject.

No offers received for Celtic star Kyogo

Football Scotland say that Celtic have yet to even field an official approach from the Japanese club about Kyogo and that Urawa Red Diamonds would have to ‘smash through’ the national transfer record of £10m to land him.

It’s said nothing concrete has been tabled and that Celtic hold the power on any transfer due to Kyogo’s stable contract situation.

Celtic are setting the bar high on a potential exit, meaning that a club would need to come in with a very lucrative pitch to tempt the champions into selling him.

Rightly so. Kyogo has scored 73 goals in 133 appearances for the Bhoys and made his mark in big matches, terrorising Rangers especially throughout 2023.

He may not have been quite as electric last season compared to the one prior, but Kyogo can still be a potent weapon for the team, especially if Celtic surrounds him with stronger talent from the upcoming summer transfer window.

Kyogo is currently enjoying time off in his homeland and looks set to return to pre-season for another push for Scottish honours and European progress.
