‘Gone to another level’: Gary Neville says £50m player has got so much better since leaving Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have sold a number of players over the years who have massively improved since leaving Spurs.

Marcus Edwards has become a star in Portugal after leaving Tottenham, Gareth Bale went on to win five Champions Leagues after leaving Spurs, while Harry Kane has just had his best goalscoring season ever a year after leaving the north London club.

Speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville has been discussing another player who he believes has seriously improved since leaving Tottenham – Kyle Walker.

Indeed, Neville says that Walker has gone to another level since leaving Spurs, noting that his game awareness has come on so much since joining Manchester City.

Kyle Walker has improved since leaving Tottenham

Neville spoke about the £50m man and how much he has improved.

“There was a time at Tottenham where I used to watch him and I used to think, he’s improved, he was good then and he’s gone to another level,” Neville said.

“It’s not the pace, at Tottenham it was that scanning, that was the point, but he does that now doesn’t he?”

The Pep Guardiola effect

Is it really much of a surprise that Walker has improved so much since leaving Tottenham?

Walker has moved to Manchester City where he is arguably working with the best coach of all-time.

Pep Guardiola has this effect on his players, he gives them all of the tools they need to improve, and with a player like Walker, the coaching must’ve been so easy.

Indeed, Walker has always had the physical attributes to dominate any game, Guardiola just needed to hone the technical and mental sides of Walker’s game, and then he would become one of the best right-backs in the world.

Pep Guardiola has transformed many players at Manchester City, but perhaps the man he had the most impact on is Walker.
