Report: Liverpool want to sign 'extremely dangerous' attacker; scored in the Champions League last season

Liverpool are looking at potential new signings and could now make a move for a player Arne Slot knows very well.

The Reds are in the market for new faces this summer and are being linked with a host of new players.

The summer window has yet to really kick into gear and is not even officially ‘open’ just yet either.

However, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from whirring and Liverpool are one of the clubs being linked with players.

And according to a report from The Telegraph, the Reds are now keen on a player who has yet to make his full debut for Newcastle United.

Liverpool keen on Yankuba Minteh

According to the report from The Telegraph, Newcastle could be open to doing business for Minteh this summer after his superb season for Feyenoord.

The young winger hit double figures as part of Arne Slot’s side and is now due back in Newcastle this summer before having his future decided.

However, with the Mags under pressure to make a sale or two this summer, Minteh is apparently a player they’ll consider letting go and they could bring in as much as £40m.

Liverpool are mentioned as one of the clubs who are keen on signing Minteh if he becomes available.

It’s claimed that while Eddie Howe wants to take a closer look at Minteh this summer, his sale could ease the pressure when it comes to keeping the likes of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Minteh was signed by Dan Ashworth for just shy of £7m before immediately going out on loan to Feyenoord.

Liverpool links inevitable

It’s no real surprise to see Minteh being linked with Liverpool here.

The obvious link is the Arne Slot one and the fact he played for the new Reds boss last year makes it easier for these links to emerge.

Clearly, Minteh is a talented player as well and at just 19, there could be a massive future in store for the Gambian star.

Newcastle, then, have a big decision to make here, while Liverpool must consider whether splashing £40m on an unproven youngster is the way they want to go.
