Susan Whymark Funeral Service opens fourth branch in Framlingham for 20th anniversary year

A funeral service, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, has opened its fourth branch.

Fresh from opening a new office in Park Road in Diss in March, Susan Whymark Funeral Service has bought Moore Bros in Framlingham.

As part of the purchase, the business will relocate to a new office at the former Bradlaugh’s Electrical Shop in Fore Street.

Mrs Whymark said it marked a proud moment for the firm.

“I was approached by Ian Moore, owner and funeral director of Moore Bros, who offered the business,” she told the Diss Express.

“I feel honoured to be asked to carry on a funeral service in Framlingham that has had five generations of one family serving the town.”

Ms Whymark said she will name the new office Moore House, in acknowledgement of the hard work carried out by Mr Moore and his family.

The new office will be run by Mandy Porter, with Mr Moore’s daughter, Georgia, remaining as part of the team. Mr Moore will still be available for arrangements, if requested.

Ms Whymark said: “I am so pleased for Mandy, who has worked very hard to get her diploma.

“It takes nearly two years of dedication, but Mandy has made that commitment, which is fantastic.”

As well as the new Framlingham branch, Susan Whymark Funeral Directors has sites in Progress Way, Eye, and in London Road, Harleston.

“It is such an exciting year for us as a company,” she said.

“When I started the business 20 years ago, it was just my mother, Dianne, and I in one office in Eye.

Now we have a team of exceptional people and these four branches. I can’t believe how quickly those 20 years have gone.”
