Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Denise Leigh to perform at the 2024 Highclere Castle Battle Proms

This year’s Highclere Castle Battle Proms will feature a performance from a Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist.

Soprano Denise Leigh, accompanied by her pianist husband Stefan Andrusyschyn - both of whom are blind - sang a moving rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone to a rapt audience, coming second in the semi-final’s public vote.

Denise will be performing Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Gershwin's Summertime and more at Highclere Castle on Saturday, August 3.

It will be the soprano’s 20th year performing at the Battle Proms series, which host summer ‘proms in the park’ events in stately home gardens around the UK.

A Battle Proms spokesperson said: “Regulars have come to know and love the hugely talented opera singer for her beautiful renditions of famous arias and much-loved pieces, and her rousing lead of their sing-a-long firework finale.

“During their Britain’s Got Talent audition the couple captured the hearts of the nation thanks to their wit, warmth and incredible talent.

“Both Denise and Stefan are blind and Denise has recently battled a cancer diagnosis, but their positive attitude to life and clear love for each other sparkled on stage when they auditioned with Climb Ev’ry Mountain, the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic from The Sound of Music.”

Songs from the varied programme of the upcoming Battle Proms at Highclere Castle include the Dam Busters March, the Downton Abbey Theme, the 1812 Overture and Elgar’s Nimrod.

As well as the musical programme of classical favourites and iconic film and television themes, the event will also feature a horseback cavalry show and an aerial display from a spitfire and parachutists.
