Russia failed to realize its offensive in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian military will further strengthen the Kharkiv direction, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the President, today he discussed the overall situation at the front with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

“A very significant result is that the Russian army failed to implement their Kharkiv operation. We are now restraining them as much as possible and destroying Russian units that enter our land and terrorize the Kharkiv region. The direction is intensified. And it will be further strengthened,” the head of state emphasized.

According to Zelenskyy, Syrskyi also reported on the areas in the Donetsk region. It is the most difficult there today.

“We are working to provide more reserves to our army,” the president added.

Russia's offensive in the Kharkiv region

In May, the Russian army launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region. Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian border from the territory of the Belgorod region in the direction of the city of Vovchansk and towards Kharkiv. However, Russian troops failed to advance more than 7-8 kilometers.

The Russian plan to capture the city of Vovchansk also failed, although the enemy managed to enter the city. Fierce fighting is currently taking place for the border town, but most of it is under the control of the Ukrainian army.
