Cocoa (Fla.) four-star EDGE Javion Hilson has been committed to Florida State since January, but he has continued to take visits as his recruitment progresses. He was initially committed to Alabama, but flipped his pledge after Nick Saban’s retirement.

This weekend, Hilson is on an official visit to Texas. It follows last week’s official visit to Florida and proceeds visits to UCF (June 14) and Florida State (June 21).

On his visit to Austin, Hilson posed for a photo alongside Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian.

“Florida is right behind FSU. It’s Texas, UCF and Florida State. I got the OV with them and stuff,” Hilson told On3 earlier this week. “Right now, after the OVs, that’s when I’m going to shut down my recruitment and focus on that one school that I pick, really.”

When Hilson flipped his commitment from Alabama to FSU in January, he told On3 this about his decision.

“I like the atmosphere and the fan base,” Hilson said. “My dad is a big Florida State fan and I grew up watching them and it’s close to home. I am a Florida boy and they’ve been recruiting me the heaviest ever since I committed to Alabama. Also, I can fit the best in their defense 4-2-5 as a true defensive end.”

Javion Hilson Recruit Profile

Hilson is the nation’s No. 40 overall prospect, No. 4 edge rusher and No. 6 recruit from Florida in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Cocoa coach Ryan Schneider told Steve Wiltfong that Javion Hilson is a complete package.

“He’s blessed to have God-given ability,” Schneider said. “The thing that makes him great is his work ethic and drive to be the best player he can be. His work ethic and drive are some of the best I’ve ever seen in a high school football player. He’s the type of kid we have to kick out of the weight room and off the practice field. He wants to keep working.”
