Shea Sprague has emphatic reaction to UNC double play during in-game interview

Jeffrey Camarati-USA TODAY Sports

North Carolina pitcher Shea Sprague couldn’t contain his excitement as a double play occurred during an in-game interview on Saturday. Sprague was answering questions in the fourth inning of a Super Regional matchup against West Virginia when a ball was hit toward center field.

The Tar Heels star paused in the middle of his answer to watch the action as Vance Honeycutt secured the fly ball. He then noticed that the Mountaineers’ Sam White had already started making his way to second, throwing a dart back to first base just in time to get him out on a double play.

The sequence led to an emphatic on-camera reaction from Sprague, who cheered his teammate on.

“How ’bout that kid!” he repeated as he clapped his hands.
