A young powerlifter has set a new British, European and Commonwealth records — at the age of 11.
South Scarle’s Harriet Lack was invited to compete at the recent British Powerlifting Federation British Championships, which was combined with the European and Commonwealth Championships.
It featured a particularly large team over from India.
Lack secured the new record in the U44kg youth category.
Because she is still only 11 and the official age classes start at 13 in the UK, there was a generic ‘youth’ category for those too young for the official teens section.
Harriet weighs 41kg and pulled a deadlift of 60kg, which was only just under one-and-a-half times her bodyweight deadlift.
Her mum, Sally, was did well in the competition — lifting an unofficial world record in bench press of 84kg in the M2 category, for people aged 45 to 50.
