'We might see': Pundit says £300,000-a-week player's time at Man City could be coming to an end now

Darren Ambrose has claimed that one player’s time at Manchester City might be coming to an end.

Being an elite club, Manchester City seemingly are unafraid to let go of players if they believe they are past their sell-by date.

Amid months of speculation about whether City should offer Sergio Aguero a new contract or sell him, the club chose to let Barcelona sign him. Despite the Argentine being one of their greatest-ever players, it seemed like his declining fitness meant Manchester City’s hand was forced into letting him go.

Darren Ambrose says one player’s Man City career might be coming to an end

The best teams in the world let even some of their greatest players leave at the right time.

On the other hand, elite clubs who struggle to compete at the top often keep some of their players for far longer than they should.

Now, Darren Ambrose believes Jack Grealish could be edging close towards the end of his trophy-laden spell at Manchester City.

On talkSPORT (08/06/2024, 1:50 pm), he said: “I think to a certain degree, we might see the end of Jack Grealish at Manchester City. If you think back to when you were a player, I think Jack might blame Pep Guardiola a little bit for his omission, not playing him as much as he wants.”

“When he came on the other night against Bosnia, that was Jack Grealish, that’s what we all knew, taking players on. It was just a little bit too late. Everything that he does well, [Eberechi] Eze does just as good, if not better. I think it was the right decision, however harsh it is.”

The former Aston Villa skipper man also failed to make the cut for England’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024, as reported on Thursday.

Despite the claim made by Darren Ambrose, it seems like Jack Grealish is set to stay at Manchester City. It was reported around two weeks ago that ahead of the FA Cup final, Guardiola discussed with Grealish how his form must improve next season.

Furthermore, a key reason why the £300,000-a-week man looks unlikely to leave the Etihad Stadium is due to the sizable fee he could command.

The report also stated how Jack Grealish felt off-the-pitch problems and injuries meant his season was a “write-off”, despite him lifting his third successive Premier League title.

Only time will tell how Grealish will perform in the following campaign and how his displays will impact his future at the club.
