Arsenal target Amadou Onana makes transfer claim when asked about rumoured summer move

Rumoured Arsenal transfer target Amadou Onana has issued a claim about his future amid ongoing speculation surrounding the midfielder.

The Everton star has been strongly linked with a move to north London in recent weeks, with Arsenal believed to be interested in signing a midfielder this summer with Onana emerging as a prime target for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Lauded by Ian Wright as a ‘very good’ player, Onana has been one of Everton’s best players in the last two seasons since arriving from LOSC Lille, with Arsenal being earmarked as a potential next step for the 22-year-old Belgium international.

And the midfielder has now given his verdict on what will happen this summer.

Onana teases potential exit amid interest from Arsenal

Speaking to the Hamburger Abendblatt, the Toffees dynamo admitted that he is currently focused on the Euros this summer with Belgium, but did hint that he will ‘see’ what happens in the coming weeks.

Whilst recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are currently not interested in moving for Onana, things can change quickly in the market, especially if the midfielder decides to hand in a transfer request.

Indeed, such a situation could change Arsenal’s mind greatly on Onana, who at 6’5″ could be a dream no. 6 for the Gunners given his age, Premier League experience and immense technical qualities.

Onana said when asked about his future this summer at Everton: “I’m under contract with Everton, and I’ll leave everything else to the media. I’ll just do my best at the European Championships and then we will see.”

Onana’s comments could hint towards a summer move

Onana has been linked with a move to Arsenal for what feels like the second the midfielder touched down in England with Everton, and this summer could finally see the switch happen.

The 22-year-old has shown he is ready to move on from Everton after two progressive summers with the Goodison Park side, where Onana has proven his Premier League credentials and then some.

And with Arsenal in the market for a new midfielder, Onana could find himself a new home in north London, where Arteta could take the Belgian international to new levels alongside the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
