Arsenal set £50m asking price for ‘incredible’ star wanted by Premier League club

Arsenal have reportedly set a £50 asking price for one player this summer amid rumoured interest from a Premier League club.

The north London side are set for potentially one of their busiest windows in some time when it comes to departures, with defender Oleksandr Zinchenko recently linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Thomas Partey is another player who could leave Arsenal this summer, and with the futures of Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe also up in the air, the coming weeks could be profitable ones for the Gunners.

Yet the north London side have slapped a big fee on one player who is expected to leave this summer.

Aaron Ramsdale valued at £50m amid Newcastle interest

According to the Sun, Aaron Ramsdale has been placed with a £50m asking price, with Newcastle United believed to be interested in signing the England international this summer.

As per the report, Arsenal are looking for a guaranteed fee of £40m for the former Sheffield United goalkeeper, who this season fell down the pecking order after the loan signing of David Raya, which is due to be made official soon.

Lauded as ‘incredible’ by Stephen Warnock, Ramsdale is clearly a goalkeeper who could fetch a big transfer fee for Arsenal if the north London side play their cards right and find the perfect suitor for the 26-year-old shot-stopper.

However, given how much Arsenal want for Ramsdale, it could be impossible for the Gunners to attract any club interested enough in signing the England international for that sort of money, especially after a year of mostly sitting on the bench.

Arsenal have to be realistic when it comes to selling Ramsdale

Arsenal’s transfer record when it comes to selling players for good fees is one of the worst amongst the Premier League top-six, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s £35m move to Liverpool back in 2017 still the club’s all-time record sale.

And whilst Ramsdale should fetch a fee equal to or even greater than this transfer seven years ago, Arsenal have to be realistic when it comes to selling a player who hardly played last season.

With Ramsdale also signing a long-term contract last year, this summer could be a difficult one to ship off the England international, especially for a price as high as £50m.
