‘Exceptional’ player already in talks to join new club after just being released by Arsenal

A player recently released by Arsenal is already in talks to join a new club having impressed this season out on loan.

This week saw the Gunners announce the 22 players who will be leaving north London at the end of their contracts, with Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares the two big names from the senior squad that will be moving on from Arsenal.

With a number of academy players also departing, Arsenal’s youth ranks will look rather different next season with several prospects who spent years at the club now leaving for a new chapter in their football careers.

And one youngster is already in talks to join a new team this summer.

Arthur Okonkwo in transfer talks to re-join Wrexham permanently

According to the Athletic, Arthur Okonkwo’s representatives are already in talks to join Wrexham, with the 22-year-old goalkeeper thriving out on loan with the Welsh side this season.

Lauded as ‘exceptional’ by manager Phil Parkinson, Okonkwo was fantastic in League Two last season for Wrexham as the superstar EFL team won promotion back up to League One after a fantastic year.

And heading into the summer, Wrexham have now moved in fast to sign Okonkwo for good, with the goalkeeper already saying his goodbyes at Arsenal after returning last month.

Indeed, Okonkwo showed out on loan that is he ready to become a star for a top side, and at Wrexham, the former England youth international could just that in League One.

Wrexham switch is the perfect platform for Okonkwo to develop

Signing for Wrexham makes the most sense for Okonkwo given how adored the goalkeeper was at the Racecourse Ground last season, and the League One side could be a dream move for the shot-stopper.

Given their incredible worldwide reputation, Okonkwo performing in League One is the perfect platform for the 22-year-old to reach the next stage of his development.

And another good year for Okonkwo at Wrexham could be what puts the goalkeeper on the map, with the youngster arguably already good enough to play at a higher level.
