'The truth is': Lionel Messi now delivers his verdict on if Neymar will join Inter Miami this summer

Lionel Messi has now delivered his verdict on if he believes Neymar will soon join him at Inter Miami.

The Brazilian international has been linked with a move to the Florida franchise for some time, with Neymar currently on the books at Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal, where the winger has spent most of his time out on the sideline with an ACL injury.

Whilst the former PSG and FC Barcelona star has admitted that a move to Inter Miami is unlikely, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating that Neymar could one day reunite with Messi in MLS at Chase Stadium.

Messi rules out Inter Miami move for Neymar at this moment

Speaking to Infobae, the Inter Miami captain admitted that he can’t see Neymar joining Inter Miami, with Messi noting that his former teammate needs to fulfill his contract first in Saudi Arabia before thinking about MLS.

Given Neymar’s lack of action in 2024 and how much the winger moved to the Middle East for last summer, it makes sense why Messi thinks now isn’t the right time for his former teammate to move to Inter Miami, much to the dismay of supporters.

Messi said when asked if he believes Neymar will make the move to Inter Miami this summer: “No, I don’t know. The truth is that now it is difficult; he is in Saudi Arabia, and he has one year left on his contract, I think.

“He had a difficult year now, where he was injured for a long time, which also left him out of the Copa America, where he could not play most of the matches in Saudi Arabia. Afterwards, I don’t know, the truth is that life has so many twists and turns that anything can happen, but I don’t think so today.”

Fans would love to see Neymar join Inter Miami eventually

With Neymar, Messi and Luis Suarez forming arguably the greatest front-three soccer has ever seen, it makes sense why fans are eager to see the Al-Hilal forward make the move to Inter Miami in the next six months.

Messi and Suarez have thrived in Florida this year under Tata Martino, and adding Neymar to the mix would see the return of one of soccer’s best-attacking trios at a time when the three players could still thrive off each other.

However, based off Messi’s comments, it’s unlikely we will see Neymar in the pink strip of Inter Miami, even if everyone wants to see the transfer happen eventually.
