Report: Derby County could now face four Championship clubs in race to sign survival hero

Swansea City become the third club to join Derby County in the race to sign one exciting striker.

Derby County are desperate to bolster their attack this summer, after Martyn Waghorn, Tyreece John-Jules and Dwight Gayle all departed the club.

The Rams had the joint-lowest goal tally in the top six last season and now only have James Collins and Conor Washington to lead the line – both of whom are in their 30s.

While they could potentially look to promote Dajaune Brown after his stellar loan spell with Gateshead, they are unsurprisingly still keen to sign a new No.9.

Derby County were named as one of three Championship clubs targeting St Johnstone striker Adama Sidibeh last month, with Burnley and Middlesbrough also interested.

Sidibeh joined the Scottish outfit from non-league club Warrington Rylands in January and has gone onto impress, picking up five goals in 15 appearances and going onto earn a call-up to the Gambia national team.

The striker netted three goals in St Johnstone’s final three games of the season, with his goal on the final day against Motherwell ensuring they avoided relegation.

Championship club prepare £500k bid for Adama Sidibeh

Sidibeh’s form could now see him move to the Championship though, with the Rams keen.

However, the list of interested parties now appears to be growing, with The Scottish Sun reporting that Swansea City have now joined the race for his signature.

The report claims that the Welsh outfit are weighing up a £500,000 move for Sidibeh and could spark a bidding war this summer, while St Johnstone are desperate to keep hold of their star striker.

With the report stating that Sidibeh feels like he owes his loyalty to the Scottish club, it will surely take an offer too tempting to turn down for him to leave Perth.

How can Derby County tempt the striker in?

The 25-year-old will be eager to play regularly if he does move to the Championship, and Derby County can surely guarantee him that if he can continue his form from last term.

Swansea have lost their top scorer Jamal Lowe, while Sidibeh could have fierce competition for a starting spot if he was to link up with either Burnley or Boro.

Pride Park could be an intriguing move for the forward, however competing with their rivals for their own six-figure bid could prove challenging.
