Report: Man Utd receive boost in pursuit of 16-year-old wonderkid, he ticks all of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's boxes

Manchester United appear to be interested in yet another wonderkid to join the academy ranks, with Blackburn Rovers star Igor Tyjon linked to the Red Devils.

The proof is most certainly in the pudding after watching Manchester United in the 23/24 season, continuing to put faith into academy products is the way forward.

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were absolutely sensational for the Red Devils, and are now two of the first names on the team sheet – despite their young ages.

With the club embarking into the Sir Jim Ratcliffe-led era, the Ineos owner wants to keep the emphasis on developing young talent, and more so finding them early.

This is why Manchester United are already in hot pursuit of Blackburn’s wonderkid, Tyjon. Now, they’ve received a potential boost in acquiring his signature.

The Sun report that the United target Tyjon has signed up with a top agency as his Blackburn future comes into doubt. This indicates a move away may be lined up.

They claim he’s wanted at Old Trafford, but also could face competition with other clubs now keen on the youngster.

Tyjon, 16, is yet to make his professional debut but has been featuring in the Premier League 2, scoring two goals in his first three appearances. Mightily impressive for his age.

He also has had success at international level. He was called up to ten England U16 side and bagged a brace on his debut against Saudi Arabia.

Tyjon could follow in the footsteps of former Blackburn academy talent Adam Wharton, who has had a meteoric rise since his move to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The report also states that United have shifted its transfer focus and know that Tyjon would fit the requirements of new investor Ratcliffe’s strict recruitment policy.

United are ensuring every signing is under the age of 25 and no ‘galacticos’ are going to be allowed through the doors at Carrington – which is what United haven’t done in years gone by.

Tijon fits the profile to a tee and is evidently a blossoming talent. It could be an extremely smart pickup.
