How many points Bruno Fernandes won Man Utd in 2023/24, international manager explains his secret

Bruno Fernandes’ importance to Manchester United is often understated, but now there can be no denying how vital he is.

It’s often said that without Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United would struggle and be in an even worse position than an eighth-place finish suggests.

This couldn’t be closer to the truth, with the Old Trafford skipper the focal point and main creative outlet of the majority of the good things at United over the past few years.

This would mean losing him amid interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia a devastating blow which could leave United unable to cope.

Now, the true value of his contributions over the 2023/24 season has been revealed thanks to a recent report.

How many points Bruno Fernandes won Manchester United

According to a report by The Athletic, Fernandes was the joint sixth most influential player in the Premier League last season in terms of winning points for his team.

The Manchester United captain won 18 points with his 18 goal contributions which has him level with Son Heung-min.

Fernandes is United’s most important player by a long stretch and this just proves it, with no other United player on the list of the top 13. Fernandes is also different to the others here in that he is a midfielder as opposed to a forward like the others on this list.

The impact Fernandes has is insane and in his 233 appearances for United, he has 79 goals and 66 assists which has him quickly becoming a legend for the club – if he can lead the side to more silverware.

Roberto Martinez explains exactly how Fernandes does it

Speaking in an interview with FIVE, Portugal manager Roberto Martinez was discussing Fernandes and explained exactly why he has the impact and importance he does.

“He has that capacity of doing what the game needs. he has this attribute of doing what the game needs.

“We had this game in Slovakia that was really tough, surprised us with how high they pressed, they stopped us. And he came up with a certain position to score the winning goal, and that is what his quality allows him to have.

“The capacity to almost change slightly his positions, how he should affect the attacking play, without the coach.”

Fernandes is equally as vital for Portugal as he is for United and so Martinez is an excellent judge of this.
