'Tremendous' £34m player has just decided he wants to leave Arsenal

One Arsenal player has decided he wants to leave the club in this summer’s transfer window.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are hard at work as they evaluate the squad ahead of the new season. All eyes will be on new signings, but Arsenal are expected to sell a few players too.

One player could be on his way out this summer, and his old club are trying to re-sign him.

Fabio Vieira wants to leave Arsenal for one reason

Arsenal signed Fabio Vieira from Porto in 2022 for an initial £30 million plus a further £4 million in potential add-ons.

The Portuguese midfielder is incredibly talented.

He’s brilliant on the ball, has fantastic vision and can score goals and create chances. He’s so good that Cedric Soares even compared him to Bernardo Silva of Manchester City.

However, Vieira struggled to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League in his debut season. In the following campaign, just when it looked like he was gaining a bit of momentum, he had to undergo surgery to rectify an injury.

That limited Vieira to just over 450 minutes of football in all competitions in the 2023/24 season. He is nowhere near the top of Arteta’s pecking order.

Now, A Bola reveal that Vieira wants to leave Arsenal to play more regularly elsewhere.

The report claims that his old side, Porto, are dreaming of re-signing Vieira, but the only way they can get him is if Arsenal agree to a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause inserted in it.

Vieira, branded as a ‘tremendous‘ player by Arteta, still has three years left on his contract at Arsenal.

Arteta made a promise about Vieira that could now be broken

Arteta really believed in Vieira’s potential when he signed for Arsenal.

On paper, the Portuguese midfielder possesses all the qualities you would want from an attacking midfielder. His versatility makes him even more attractive.

Arteta had so much faith in Vieira that he publicly promised that Arsenal will get the best out of him very soon.

“Really happy with him but at the same time sad because just as he was building some momentum he got injured just like last season,” he said in February 2024.

“He’s a player with enormous talent and we will get the best out of him.”

Now, that promise could be broken.

Reports have emerged that Arteta is unimpressed with Vieira in training and could now sell him in this summer’s transfer window.
