The targeted vessel is reported to be the fifth out of seven Ropucha-type landing ships that have been sunk or "disabled" by Ukrainian attacks.
"This successful strike shows Russians that they cannot operate freely neither in the Black Sea nor in the east," the source stated.

The Russian military utilizes such ships primarily for transporting ammunition and materials to the occupied city of Mariupol, facilitating further distribution to the front lines.
Additionally, the Crimean Wind Telegram channel reported that at approximately 4:00 p.m. EET on June 8, several "non-civilian-looking" vessels were observed from the coast between Berdiansk and Prymorsk.
Around midnight, according to the Crimean Wind monitoring channel, a Ukrainian drone launched an attack near the Russian port of Yeysk, targeting a ship allegedly following the Russian cruiser Moscow. Subsequent to the incident, Russian public media withdrew all reports of the attack.
"It looks like Russians decided to hide the LHD (large amphibious assault ship) in Yeysk, but something went wrong," the channel noted.
Further details are anticipated as "we are waiting for official reports from the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Crimean Wind added.

In another update, Crimean Wind, using satellite imagery, suggested that Ukraine might have struck a different Russian warship, not the one initially reported. The channel also observed a 96-meter-long ship near Yeysk on June 9, noting the dimensions align more closely with the Project 22160 patrol ships Vasyl Bykov, which are 94 meters long, rather than the longer Ropucha-class ships.
In related news, the Russian Black Sea Fleet reportedly relocated several ships from Novorossiysk to the Sea of Azov during "exercises," likely in an attempt to evade Ukrainian maritime drones.
Moreover, HUR reported on June 6 that a special unit of the 9th Department of the HUR destroyed a Russian raid tugboat of the 498 Saturn or Proteus project near the coast of temporarily occupied Crimea.
As of June 9, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russians have lost a total of 28 ships and boats.
