Report: European Cup winners now have a 'total agreement' to sign 'world class' Arsenal target

Serie A giants AC Milan have a ‘total agreement’ to sign a ‘world class’ Arsenal target this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Arsenal’s number nine position has been a major talking point for much of last season with many suggesting the club need to invest in a new striker.

Gabriel Jesus netted just four times in the Premier League and whilst Kai Havertz stepped into the role well, it’s evident a more prolific forward is needed to bridge the gap on title-winners Manchester City.

Though, it seems they’re about to miss out on a ‘world class’ target.

AC Milan agree deal to sign Joshua Zirkzee

According to Sports Zone, Milan are closing in on the signing of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee and have a ‘total agreement’ with the forward on personal terms.

There is also an agreement in principle on agent commissions so unless there is a late hijack, Zirkzee is set to be announced as Milan’s new signing for £34m.

Arsenal had been heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old and on Sunday evening it was reported that they remained in the race along with rivals Manchester United.

However, there was a sense that Zirkzee wanted to remain in Italy and that notion seems to have materialised.

Dominic Solanke is quickly becoming a realistic option

Benjamin Sesko will be highly sought after this summer, with Chelsea and Newcastle United joining the race with Arsenal.

So, if they do miss out on Sesko, too, Solanke is expected to be the alternative target and after news of Zirkzee’s Milan transfer, the Bournemouth forward has quickly become a very realistic option.

Solanke has a £65m release clause in his contract which applies to Arsenal along with the rest of the top six.

Perhaps they could activate it imminently.
