'Priority': Fabrizio Romano says European giants are advancing in talks to sign 'world class' Arsenal target

Arsenal could miss out on a ‘world class’ target this summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sporting director Edu will be working hard behind the scenes to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the fast-approaching season.

Having gone so close to winning the title last term, the onus will certainly be to go one better and to do that, they’ll need a few top additions in the window.

With that said, it seems they could miss out on a target.

AC Milan advance for Arsenal target Joshua Zirkzee

According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are advancing to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, who is a target of Arsenal.

The ‘world class’.) striker has a £34m release clause in his contract and Romano states that he is a priority for Milan.

“For AC Milan, Joshua Zirkzee remains the priority target,” the transfer specialist said.

“€40m release clause, fantastic season at Bologna.

“Milan still working on Zirkzee, it has always been and remains at the moment the priority target.”

The European giants appear in pole position to land his signature, so Arsenal may have to focus on other targets.

Arsenal should look elsewhere

Arsenal, ideally, need to get their business done as early as possible and they won’t want to get drawn into a saga with Zirkzee, as Milan probe to sign him.

So they should focus on other deals and perhaps look at Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, who also has a £34m release clause in his contract.

Further, the Ukraine international is more experienced and perhaps ready to make the step to the Premier League.

A telling few weeks await.
