'I'm amazed': Patrick Vieira left absolutely stunned by how good £225,000-a-week Man City player is

Patrick Vieira has admitted that he has been “amazed” by how well one Manchester City player has been playing.

The retired midfielder’s opinion still holds weight as he is regarded as one of the best players to have ever played in the Premier League.

Vieira, both as a midfielder and a captain is considered one of the best the game has ever seen.

Patrick Vieira left “amazed” by Manchester City midfielder

The Frenchman has previously praised Manchester City players, revealing in May that Rodri is his “favourite player” in the game.

Vieira’s connection with City started in 2010, as he spent a season at the club and lifted the FA Cup in 2011. The World Cup winner also managed the Elite Development Squad (EDS) as well as their sister club, New York City FC.

When quizzed about whether England could beat France at Euro 2024, Patrick Vieira claimed top players like Phil Foden could help them do so.

Vieira said on The Overlap’s Stick To Football: “In one game, I think it can happen. Obviously, they have the quality of talented players to do it because I’m amazed by Phil Foden, what he’s been doing, [Jude] Bellingham, you have quality, you have talent there so it all depends on [Harry] Kane, how he will be in the competition because obviously you will need somebody up front who will score those goals who you will need.”

“But I think England really have a good chance to beat France.”

Phil Foden can certainly help England defeat France

In our view, Patrick Vieira makes a fair point about how the individual quality that a player like Phil Foden possesses can help England defeat France in a one-off game.

Often, such high-profile encounters are decided by moments of individual brilliance and Foden has shown time and again that he is capable of producing them.

Top teams tend to cancel each other on several instances when they face each other as player quality tends to trump tactical ideas.

Whether it is through a long-range effort, a deft pass or a sumptuous piece of dribbling, the £225,000-a-week has the skills in his locker to stun a team like France.

As Patrick Vieira stated, a player like Phil Foden could cause France among most teams problems and all eyes will be on him to make a difference in such a game.
