Liverpool believe they have a player worth £30m but he could leave this summer

Liverpool have a long list of talented players in their squad, but that does present a major problem at any club.

Given the large squad but limited places in the starting XI, it is very difficult to keep everyone happy at Anfield.

That is undoubtedly an issue that Arne Slot will have to manage, but it is a problem for another time, with the Dutchman currently only just settling into life on Merseyside with his family.

It may, however, already be on his mind, particularly given that some unhappy players may push for an exit in the transfer window.

Certain stars may need to be sold in order to raise funds for new faces that Slot appreciates, but it won’t be easy when deciding who to keep and who to lose.

Liverpool place £30m price tag on Caoimhin Kelleher

One player who could be at the centre of such a debate is Caoimhin Kelleher, with the goalkeeper’s Anfield future uncertain.

Several clubs have been linked with his services, with Wolves interested in a deal for the Republic of Ireland international, while there is also talk of a loan move to Celtic.

A fresh Liverpool stance has now emerged on Kelleher, with the goalkeeper’s departure depending on the club’s valuation being met this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The publication reported on its website that, having dismissed a £15million offer from Nottingham Forest in January, the Reds believe the goalkeeper is worth almost double that figure.

Liverpool should reluctantly sell Caoimhin Kelleher

Kelleher has been a superb servant for the Anfield club over the years, with his ability particularly coming to light this season.

The Republic of Ireland ace stepped up when Jurgen Klopp needed him, with first-choice Alisson missing a large chunk of the campaign through injury.

But the Brazilian’s return saw normal order restored, with Kelleher undoubtedly the second choice at Anfield.

That is a situation that will not change anytime soon, meaning the Reds should reluctantly allow Kelleher to move on this summer.

The goalkeeper deserves regular first-team football, and is simply too good to be limited to the less-important matches.

A silver lining would arrive in the form of a significant fee for his services, which could be spent on a new second choice for the new season.
