Over the last few weeks, the Hoops have been looking to fill several vacancies in youth development, including the appointment of a new Under-18’s boss to replace the departed Stuart McLaren.

Darren O’Dea has been appointed Professional Player Pathway Manager, specialising in working to progress youngsters both internally and on loan, fostering relations with other Scottish sides in the process.

Now, fresh information has come to light regarding two important appointments Celtic are set to make behind the scenes.

Jonny Hayes and Adam Asghar set for Celtic coaching roles

According to The Daily Record, Hayes will become assistant manager of the Celtic B team; meanwhile, Adam Asghar is set to be unveiled as the new boss of the Celtic Under-18 side.

The 36-year-old is now set for an exciting venture as his coaching career gets off the ground, imparting plenty wisdom from his playing days on to the players he will now work with in the Lowland League.

In the case of Asghar, the 29-year-old arrives from Southampton Under-21’s, where he is lead coach, having also previously spent time at Sunderland, Motherwell and the first-team set-up at Dundee United, replacing McLaren.

Celtic appear to have performed an internal reshuffle to try and maximise the potential of prodigious talent at Lennoxtown, which can only bode well for the future.

Brendan Rodgers has previously mentioned promoting academy products to the senior squad as a ‘key point’ of his second spell in charge, so hopefully, the Bhoys can make headway on that in the near future.
