SR-50 Closure Has Been Postponed Until After July 4th

Ridge Manor Detour

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. - The planned closure and detour of SR-50 has been postponed again due to the unavailability of a second crane required for the beam setting.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the contractor is currently working on rescheduling the work, and we will provide an update on the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

The closure will not take place until sometime after the Independence Day holiday (July 4th).

The closure is needed to erect beams for an SR 50 bridge over the railroad tracks and is expected to be in place around the clock for approximately ten days for the bridge construction and CSX railroad signal work.

No traffic will be permitted to enter the work zone or cross the tracks during the closure. SR 50 will only be open to local traffic from US 301 to the west of the railroad tracks.

DETOUR: Traffic will be detoured using US 301 and State Road 575 / CR 575 (Burwell Road). This is a lengthy detour; drivers are encouraged to plan extra time into their schedules to travel through the detour or consider alternate routes.
