Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development in the German government Svenja Schulze has called for combining future aid for the restoration of Ukraine into a special fund alongside the German federal budget, according to Tagesschau.

Schulze believes that aid to Ukraine cannot be based on the principles of the annual federal budget, especially given that it exceeds the regular budget.

“Our commitments should be more reliable,” she said.

Schulze represents the Social Democratic Party of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

However, according to the agency, the Minister of Finance from the Free Democratic Party Christian Lindner refuses to create a special fund outside the 2025 budget.

As reported earlier, the German authorities are discussing the possibility of sending another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
