Former Penn State wrestler Terrell Barraclough committed to Utah Valley, he announced on Instagram.
Barraclough, a Utah native, spent the majority of his career with the Nittany Lions but entered the NCAA transfer portal after the 2024 season concluded. He had one year left due to the COVID-19 waiver.
Barraclough made it official with a short caption on his social media post.
“Coming home …,” he wrote.
Barraclough was a spot starter for Penn State at numerous weights but did not crack the full-time starting lineup. Not counting his redshirt year in 2019-20, Barraclough went 28-15 with the Nittany Lions.
This past year, Barraclough made some waves whenever he stepped onto the mat. He went 12-2 at 165 and 174 pounds.
For the 2024-25 season, he’s projected to go 165 pounds and is seen as an All-American candidate.
Barraclough’s lone losses this past season came to teammate and NCAA runner up Mitchell Messenbrink (8-5 at 165 pounds) and 2021 national champion and five-time All-American Shane Griffith (Michigan, 2-1 at 174 pounds).

Terrell Barraclough commits to Utah Valley
Barraclough thanked his teammates and coaches at Penn State for a long career in State College.
“Penn State, it’s been real,” he wrote. “It has been one of the greatest privileges to be amongst legends and great people. I forever will be grateful for each of my brothers and coaches.”
Barraclough wrestled out of Kaysville, Utah and was a four-time state champion.
“I think he keeps getting better,” Penn State coach Cael Sanderson said in February. “He’s been in and out of our lineup since he was a freshman and he’s been in big matches and he’s always competed really well. He’s always consistent. He prepares for every match as if he’s going to wrestle. That’s a pretty rare thing.”
Utah Valley coach Adam Hall was pretty excited to land Barraclough out of the portal.
“(Utah Valley) just got stronger by bringing home a UT native! We’re excited to help Terrell chase a national title! Go Wolverines!,” Hall wrote on Twitter.
Utah Valley went 2-7 last season in duals and with Hall as the new coach and Barraclough in, things could turn around fast for the Wolverines.
