Dacula (Ga.) Hebron Christian Academy wide receiver Gerritt Kemp took his official visit to Duke over the weekend and he has announced that he is a Blue Devil.

Michigan State and Ole Miss received official visits. NC State was high on his list at one time. But Duke had everything he was looking for.

“Duke is the school that fits me and everytime I step on campus I feel at home,” told On3. “One reason I chose Duke is it is prestigious in academics and uses football as a platform that transitions into everyday life as a man. Another reason is the guys up there and the brotherhood is very explicit and drew me closer to the Duke family.

“Their program is growing too, and coach Manny Diaz really wants his players to reach their full potential as all-around individuals. The staff are great people and really have the desire to see you strive.”

Duke has been recruiting Kemp since January. They stayed consistent and the Blue Devils made him and his family feel like a priority. Since the beginning of May, Duke has been on top of Kemp’s list and he is excited to end his recruitment and play football in Durham.

“My recruitment is shut down and I am 1000% percent committed to Duke,” Kemp said. “I’ve visited Duke three times and every time I’ve been there, it has been an amazing experience and the people there are never changing.”

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound three-star is the No. 32 wide receiver in the On3 Ranking and he is excited about playing for Zohn Burden.

“Coach Zohn is a players coach and can relate to a lot of players as he was once in their shoes. He knows their perspective of the game and not only as a coach. Coach Zohn is also a family man and he takes pride in taking care of his family the same way he takes care of his players.”
