Fabrizio Romano pokes fun at West Ham transfer business

Fabrizio Romano has taken a light-hearted jibe at West Ham United’s transfer business on his official X account.

West Ham United fans have been glued to the X feed of Fabrizio Romano over the past couple of weeks, with the Italian providing regular updates on Julen Lopetegui‘s hunt for new players.

The Italian actually gave us his famous ‘Here We Go’ stamp of authority when it seemed like the Hammers were closing in on a deal to sign Fabricio Bruno, only for the transfer to collapse at the last minute.

That doesn’t happen too often! He’s one of the most reliable journalists on the planet.

In fairness to Romano though, he’s got it absolutely spot on when covering our move to sign Luis Guilherme, with regular and in depth updates on the transfer saga.

With Lopetegui said to be after around eight new signings this summer, Romano will be a busy man covering West Ham!

The football journalist actually has plenty of interaction with the Hammers fans on social media platforms.

And last night, he aimed a light-hearted jibe at West Ham’s transfer business…

Fabrizio Romano pokes fun at West Ham

The Italian has been updating the Hammers every step of the way during our pursuit of Palmeiras winger Luis Guilherme.

The Brazilian touched down in London after flying from Brazil yesterday morning, in order to undertake his medical ahead of a £25.5 million move to join West Ham.

The deal is not done yet, but is apparently extremely close to being wrapped up.

Romano took to his official X account last night, and responded directly to a West Ham fan who suggested that the Italian is playing it safe with West Ham transfers now when it comes to his famous ‘Here We Go’:

In fairness to Fab, that’s actually good banter. However, there’s actually some real truth to it.

The West Ham owners have hardly covered themselves in glory when it comes to negotiations with other clubs over the past decade.

Who could forget when David Sullivan and the late David Gold were publicly ridiculed by the Sporting CP owners after our failed swoop for William Carvalho?

Or what about when the Hammers tried to pull out of a deal for Said Benrahma at the very last minute, after finding supposed ‘irregularities’ in his blood samples.

There have been numerous occasions when Sullivan and co have changed the goalposts of deals at the last minute, only to miss out on certain transfer targets.

So in fairness to Fabrizio Romano, he’s not wrong about West Ham United’s transfer business is he!
