Two football teams have joined forces in a major boost for the ladies' game in Fenland.

Park Ladies have been a mainstay in the local women's football scene since 2015.

The ladies, who currently play in the Alan Boswell Group Cambridgeshire Girls and Women's Premiership, have accomplished much over the past nine years, including an unbeaten season, promotion to the Cambridgeshire Premiership and a County Cup final appearance in the 2022/23 season alone.

Wimblington Football Club captain Alex Knowles said: “Park Ladies are a fantastic club and, having shared a ground with them for many years, they have long been on our radar.

“The merger of our teams will help us not only further to develop the women's game in the local area, but make Parkfield Sports Club the place to go to see the best football in Fenland.”

The forthcoming season will also see a change in management for Wimblington Football Club Ladies, with long-serving duo Rob Mitchell and Ash Anderson stepping down to make way for incoming manager Eamonn Brown.

On his appointment, boss Brown said: “As the new manager of Wimblington Football Club Ladies, I am thrilled to take charge of such a talented and dedicated team.

"We have an exceptional squad with immense potential, and our ambitions for the upcoming season are sky-high. Together, we are ready to make a significant impact and reach new heights on and off the field.”

Wimblington FC Ladies' pre-season campaign will begin with open training sessions later this summer.

Any players looking to join the club are invited to come along to these training sessions, with more information available shortly on the Wimblington FC Ladies Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/wimboladies
