Sunderland now set to miss out on PL free agent, he's joining a top flight Euro club - journalist

Sunderland now look set to miss out on this Premier League free agent, who was previously linked with the Black Cats in January.

Sunderland have had a slow start to proceedings this summer, mainly due to the club’s ongoing managerial search.

Sunderland are nearing the four-month mark since they sacked Michael Beale in February this year.

But it looks like Sunderland oner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is honing in on his next manager, with Liam Rosenior the front-runner.

It comes after Will Still landed the RC Lens job and Pascal Jansen was pulled out of contention to become the next Black Cats boss.

Soon, sporting director Kristjaan Speakman will be able to press on with transfer matters at the Stadium of Light.

It needs to be a positive summer in the transfer window with Sunderland desperately needing some new bodies to avoid a repeat of last season.

One name linked in January, whose links were reignited ahead of the summer, is Omari Forson; the 19-year-old winger is set to become a free agent on July 1st.

Sunderland set to miss out on Manchester United talent Omari Forson

Forson has had interest from the likes of Sunderland and Middlesbrough, after making four Premier League appearances for Manchester United last season.

But Fabrizio Romano has now revealed on X that United academy graduate Forson will seal a move to the Italian top flight with Monza this summer.

Romano has revealed that Forson has ‘agreed’ terms to join Serie A side Monza on a free transfer ahead of his Manchester United contract expiry.

Forson will sign a four-year contract with the club who finished in 12th place of the table last season.

Sunderland experiencing one key theme this summer

In both the club’s search for managers and players, Sunderland are constantly being overlooked.

Still preferred to stay in France with RC Lens and now Forson has taken something of a risk by joining Monza, who like Sunderland, endured a poor finish last season.

Monza failed to win any of their last nine games. Whether or not game time will be readily-available in the Italian top flight remains to be seen, and it could be a tough inaugural season given his lack of experience.

A move to Sunderland could’ve been a safer bet for the Englishman, but it seems as though he’s snubbed a lot of interest from a lot of places to join Monza.

Sunderland remains a club with potential. It remains a good place for younger players to come and cut their teeth as well.

But it seems clear that the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the manager has painted an uncertain picture of the club as a whole.

Once a manager arrives, it should make matters in the transfer market a bit smoother.
