Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he expects Ukrainian refugees to return to the country but only after the fighting has ended.
It doesn't make sense to try to motivate Ukrainians to return now with slogans or campaigns, Zelensky said. "There is no doubt that general reconstruction will only take place after the war," he said.
The Ukrainian leader said there will be a great deal of enthusiasm among Ukrainians who fled abroad to come back and rebuild the country once there is peace.
There will be plenty of jobs once that happens, Zelensky said, noting that there is already robust demand in Ukraine for skilled workers.
Zelensky's comments came during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Tuesday, where he is visiting for the opening of an international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
