Report: Newcastle United receive positive Bruno Guimaraes update with 13 days to go

As each day passes, Newcastle United get one step closer to keeping Bruno Guimaraes.

While the transfer window does not shut until August 30th, this is a decisive couple of weeks with regards to Bruno Guimaraes staying at Newcastle United.

That is because of his £100million release clause, which clubs currently have the opportunity to activate. But it is only a small window of opportunity, with Newcastle ensuring that any buyer gives them a financial boost ahead of the latest set of accounts being submitted.

A Bruno Guimaraes departure would help Newcastle’s PSR position, with the Magpies reportedly under pressure to sell before June 30th.

But for Bruno to depart, a deal will need to happen a bit sooner. Globo Esporte in Brazil state that the 26-year-old’s release clause expires on June 24th, which is the same day as Brazil’s first match at the Copa America.

What Manchester City are expected to do as they eye Bruno Guimaraes transfer

With less than two weeks to go before Bruno’s release clause expires, Newcastle face an agonising wait.

There has been some fear that the clause could be activated this month, but perhaps those fears are misplaced.

That is because Newcastle World report that Manchester City, who are one of the clubs interested in Bruno, are not expected to pay the £100million required to sign the midfielder this month.

That is a major boost, as Pep Guardiola’s side have looked like the biggest threat after it emerged that they would not be able to sign Lucas Paqueta.

First they inadvertently cost us a place in Europe next season by losing the FA Cup final, then there was a chance they could rob us of our best player. Fortunately, it does not currently look like they are going to do that.

More good news regarding Bruno Guimaraes and Newcastle

Manchester City are seemingly not planning to activate Bruno’s release clause by June 24th, and the same goes for two more potential suitors.

That is according to Globo Esporte, who report that moves to Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain are not likely. They report that Barca cannot afford the Brazil international, while PSG are ‘expected to intensify contacts’ closer to the deadline – despite stating that a move to Paris is ‘unlikely’.

While we might not be fully out of the woods just yet, Bruno’s options appear to be dwindling.

PSG might be the only club standing, although there have been a lot of mixed messages about their interest in Newcastle’s number 39.

For now, it looks like Newcastle might have priced suitors out of a deal for Bruno. £100million is a lot of money – seemingly too much money for the interested parties.

That is good news for Newcastle United, who believe that Bruno Guimaraes is priceless.
