An NFL analytics expert has projected a low win total for the Tennessee Titans when they take the field this fall. Cynthia Frelund of the NFL Network said the Titans will have a win total of 6.2 games. The Titans’ projected win total is the third-lowest in the AFC as it’s only better than the Denver Broncos (5.7) and the New England Patriots (5.3).

Will Levis threw four TD passes in his rookie debut, then just four more over his other eight games last season,” Frelund wrote. “That is just one indicator of why we still don’t have a clear picture of his potential, and I certainly don’t think we have a statistically relevant sample yet. Also muddling the forecast is a new coaching staff and the offseason departure of Derrick Henry, both of which signal a big identity change for Tennessee’s offense.

“The Titans close out the campaign with four of their final five contests against division opponents, which gives them plenty of influence in how the AFC South shakes out down the stretch. Unfortunately, my models suggest they’re more likely to play the role of spoiler than playoff contender.”

During the offseason, the Titans hired Brian Callahan to be the next head coach. Callahan spent the last five seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals and was an offensive assistant with the Denver Broncos when they won the Super Bowl in 2015. Callahan takes over for Mike Vrabel who led the Titans to two AFC South titles and an AFC Championship game appearance in six seasons.

Why the Tennessee Titans hired Brian Callahan as their head coach

“This is an exciting time for our franchise, and we’re thrilled to have Brian as our head coach,” said Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, per the team’s official website. “We went through a thorough candidate search and Brian stood out as the best person to lead our football team. I want to thank the other candidates who were part of this process and wish them well moving forward.

“Brian has a track record of success and a range of experience that has prepared him for this opportunity. His football knowledge and his enthusiasm for the game really stand out, and beyond that, we think his ability to lead will make him the ideal fit for our franchise.

The Titans finished the 2023 season with a 6-11 record. With the loss of Henry, the Titans added former Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard to the backfield. Pollard will worj with Tyjae Spears who recorded 838 yards from scirmmage and three total touchdowns last year.
