US to announce new sanctions against Russia at G7 summit: Details

The United States plans to announce a new package of sanctions against Russia at the G7 summit, which will take place from June 13 to 15, according to the White House representative John Kirby.

According to him, a range of new effective sanctions and export control measures will be introduced, targeting organizations and networks that aid Russia in waging war.

"We're going to continue to drive up costs for the Russian war machine," Kirby said.

G7 summit in Italy

Later this week, from June 13 to 15, the annual Group of Seven (G7) summit will take place in Italy. The meeting will be held in Apulia, southern Italy, at the Borgo Egnazia hotel.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate in the summit. As RBC-Ukraine previously reported, Kirby officially announced a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

To recap, the G7 includes the United States, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
