Kieran Tierney has been a name that’s been on the Celtic fans’ lips now for the last week or so.
After a £10m fee was revealed as enough to buy the Scotland left-back from Arsenal, the Celtic fans have discussed the merits of a potential return to Paradise for the Invincible Treble hero.
Now on Scotland duty at the Euros, the speculation surrounding Tierney looks set to continue as he represents Steve Clarke‘s side in the big tournament in Germany.
With Scotland kicking off Euro 2024 against the host nation on Friday night, Tierney is likely to start for Clarke which is in stark contrast to his current first-team status at Arsenal.
Going from being a first-team regular at Celtic to a fringe player at The Gunners must be frustrating for the former Parkhead hero and he was asked if he regrets making the switch to North London in 2019.
Tierney was ‘living the dream’ at Celtic
Tierney left Celtic for Arsenal in 2019 for a club-record fee of £25m and after a decent start at the Premier League club, he has seen his first-team status diminish since season 2022/23.
Granted, injury has played its part in that but so did the form of Oleksandr Zinchenko who Tierney struggled to displace. [Transfermarkt]
After a season-long loan at Real Sociedad was interrupted by further injury problems, Tierney is now back at Arsenal and says he has no regrets over his big-money move.
Tierney said [The Athletic], “I don’t regret it. I still miss it but I knew life would never be the same.
“I was living my dream.
“Being a footballer is the dream but playing for Celtic was the ultimate. I left that to go and challenge myself in the Premier League and come up against the best to see how I’d cope.”

As I said previously, rumours linking Tierney to a return to Paradise have been ongoing all throughout last season.
Brendan Rodgers addressed Tierney’s Arsenal struggles at the start of the last SPFL campaign after summer rumours suggested a return to Celtic could be possible.
And now that those rumours have resurfaced again, the Arsenal star has addressed what would be ‘different’ if he were to make a Parkhead return.
Tierney continued, “If I go back, I want to be feeling how I did there before.
“I’ll be a different player to what I was, as I’ve been away for years, but I wouldn’t want to go back if I wasn’t feeling 100 per cent in my body.
“I know the intensity and the demand to win so, if I go back, it will be when I’m still feeling good.”
Should Kieran Tierney find himself back in Glasgow he would certainly add quality to that left-back position and much-needed competition for Greg Taylor.
With wages and injury history being the two main concerns for any possible return, there is no doubt that seeing Tierney in the green and white Hoops would appeal to the majority of the Celtic fans.
