When is the Euro 2024 opening ceremony? Time, date and what UEFA has planned

Spain or Germany can become the first country to lift four European Championship titles at Euro 2024. England are still chasing their first trophy after Gareth Southgate took the Three Lions to their first Euro final three years ago. Italy and France have won the Euros twice yet.

But before Germany get Euro 2024 started with a Group A clash against Scotland, UEFA will launch the competition with an opening ceremony. UEFA will even start the action one day before a ball is kicked. So, here is everything to know about Euro 2024’s opening ceremony.

When is the Euro 2024 opening ceremony?

UEFA has scheduled the opening ceremony for Euro 2024 for before Germany play Scotland on June 14. It is likely to start at around 19:30 BST as kick-off will follow soon after at 20:00.

When is the Euro 2024 opening concert?

In addition to the opening ceremony, UEFA has also scheduled a concert to truly kick off the tournament on June 13. The festival will run from 18:00 BST to 23:30 BST, with doors due to open at 17:00 BST. An array of national artists are to perform at Euro 2024 Festival Stuttgart.

Robin Schulz, Leony, Le Shuuk and Topic are among the artists announced to be performing at Euro 2024 Festival Stuttgart. It will take place inside the Fan Zone located in Schlossplatz.

Where is the Euro 2024 opening ceremony?

The Euro 2024 opening ceremony will take place at the Allianz Arena in Munich. More than 70,000 fans are expected to attend the opening match as Germany face Scotland in Bavaria.

What has UEFA got planned for the Euro 2024 opening ceremony?

UEFA has drip-fed information regarding the opening ceremony for Euro 2024 but it is likely to last 20-30 minutes. The opening ceremony will feature a brief performance from musical acts, along with honouring German football legend Franz Beckenbauer ahead of the first tie.

Germany’s two living European Championship-winning captains, Bernard Dietz and Jurgen Klinsmann, will join Beckenbauer’s wife, Heidi, in presenting the competition trophy on the pitch, as well. UEFA has sought to honour Beckenbauer following his passing this January.

Beckenbauer captained West Germany to glory at Euro 1972 plus the 1974 World Cup. The iconic defender even led Die Mannschaft to lifting the World Cup as their manager in 1990. He also won three successive European Cups with Bayern Munich between 1973 and 1976.

Will there be a closing ceremony at Euro 2024?

UEFA will bring the curtain down on Euro 2024 with a closing ceremony prior to the final on July 15. The closing ceremony will take place at the Olympiastadion in Berlin and will feature a performance from OneRepublic, Leony and MEDUZA who created the tournament’s song.
