'Perfect': Dean Saunders says Liverpool have a unique player who's good enough to play for Real Madrid

Liverpool have a long list of talented players in their squad, largely thanks to the hard work that Jurgen Klopp put in behind the scenes.

He was, of course, helped by the powers that be at Anfield, with the Reds achieving plenty of success in recent times thanks to their strong group.

It all means that there is a superb foundation already in place as the Merseyside club ushers in a new era, with Arne Slot at the helm.

The Dutchman is fortunate to come into such a strong setup, which certainly isn’t the case for many managers at their new clubs.

It will, however, be some time until Slot can get to work his with new squad, with many of his players currently on international duty.

Trent Alexander-Arnold backed to play for Real Madrid

One such player is Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the Liverpool academy graduate currently preparing for Euro 2024 with England.

Dean Saunders has now shared his thoughts on both Alexander-Arnold’s best role and his talent, and believes the player is capable of shining for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

“I’ve said in the past, if Trent plays right-back you’ve got to score two goals because he gives one away,” Saunders told talkSPORT.

“But in midfield I think he’s more suited especially when he drifts out to the right and you can allow him to float and play with [Bukayo] Saka and Kyle Walker and join that triangle.

“You know when the ball comes to him, he’s whipping a cross around people, he’s hitting a diagonal, he’s chopping it into feet.

“I think he’s the most creative player but it remains to be seen. I think he could play for Real Madrid in midfield.

“I think the combination of [Jude] Bellingham, [Declan] Rice and Trent is perfect. Trent can do things nobody else can do.”

Remarkably, Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold could be added to the picture, with Real Madrid showing an interest in the 25-year-old.

For now, however, the player’s focus will solely be on Euro 2024, with Gary Neville predicting a start for Alexander-Arnold in midfield against Serbia.
