Gardener's tip to easily have a lifetime supply of world’s ‘most nutritional’ plant

As the entire planet battles a cost-of-living crisis exacerbated by a number of factors, a gardener has offered the easiest hack for growing the world’s most nutritional vegetable, watercress.

While the world might be used to strolling into a grocery store to buy food, there was a time when our ancestors grew and hunted everything they consumed. While we are not suggesting that you dedicate your life to the problematic ancestral diet, growing your own vegetables and herbs can be the easiest way of maximizing your nutritional intake.

How to grow the world’s most nutritional vegetable

If growing potatoes and other vegetables seems like a daunting first step on your gardening journey, watercress could be the hail mary you’ve been looking for. It’s remarkably simple to grow and can be used in everything from sandwiches to salads.

TikTok account Epic Gardening (@epicgardening), which usually posts content around maximizing growth in your garden, stumbled upon a genius watercress hack after making a mistake.

You see, he had placed some watercress seeds inside of a small plastic pot that then fell into his pond. The result was a pond covered in “fully aquatic watercress” which could be harvested for a range of uses. With each of the sprouting roots, Epic Gardening could cut and replant them to his heart’s content.

In theory, his silly mistake produced a lifetime supply of the world’s most nutritional vegetable.

The wondrous benefits of watercress are not something entirely new, but considering the vegetable’s size and lack of color, it sometimes gets overlooked by health nuts.

The true kicker from Watercress comes from the team-up of vitamin C and vitamin K. While vitamin C is known to enhance collagen production, iron absorption, protein metabolism, and antioxidant defense, vitamin K contributes to clotting and bone health.

There is also evidence to suggest that Watercress is beneficial in fighting back against a number of serious health conditions like cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

There might soon be a Watercress shortage, or maybe not?

A lot of TikTok users were completely unaware of the most nutritional vegetable on the planet, leading many to say they were going to purchase it immediately. Though this could cause a national watercress shortage, if enough people throw their plants in the nearest pond, we should have enough to last us for some time.

One person wrote: “Interesting, I’ve never eaten watercress. Does it taste like Romain lettuce, like spinach, it’s intriguing.”

“Wow! What are the benefits? Never heard of it! Also, mother nature is so amazing,” a second person wrote.

Someone else added: “My dad buys this all the time cos he eats it with everything… I should grow this for him!”
