Three strikers Edu could now target after Benjamin Sesko snubs Arsenal transfer

Arsenal’s plans in the summer transfer window will have to change after they were snubbed by Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners are on the market for a new striker and the Slovenian was one of Mikel Arteta’s main targets in this transfer window.

Sesko decided against joining Arsenal and has now penned a new contract at RB Leipzig. That has now forced the North Londoners to look elsewhere for a new striker.

Here are three solid options for Arteta and Edu Gaspar to consider.

Three Benjamin Sesko alternatives for Arsenal in 2024

Viktor Gyokeres

Gyokeres has been on Arsenal’s radar for a while now.

The Sweden international joined Sporting Lisbon from Coventry City in the summer of 2023 and instantly became one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

Gyokeres scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions in the 2023/24 season. He was unstoppable at times.

The 26-year-old checks a lot of boxes for Arsenal, but if the Gunners want him, they will have to trigger his £86 million release clause.

Victor Osimhen

Like Gyokeres, Osimhen has been linked with a move to Arsenal for a long time now.

The Napoli star is one of the best strikers in the world. He didn’t have a great campaign in 2023/24, but he was the biggest reason why his club won the Serie A in the previous season.

Right after news emerged that Sesko will not be moving to the Emirates, Arsenal fans all urged Arteta to sign Osimhen this summer.

However, the Nigeria international will be extremely expensive. His release clause is set at an eye-watering £112 million.

Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal first wanted to sign Vlahovic to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

In January 2022, after Arteta made him an offer, Vlahovic rejected Arsenal and moved to Juventus instead. It has been a few years since that happened, and we think Edu should try his luck again.

Vlahovic, branded as the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is similar to Sesko. He checks most of the boxes that the RB Leipzig star does, and we really think he would explode in Arsenal’s system.

What makes Vlahovic even more attractive is that he’ll likely be much cheaper than the two names above, and his salary demands won’t be as huge as what Osimhen would want either.
